Also post in here good repositories for wallpapers! I'm always on the lookout for neat new ones, I imagine some others of y'all would also appreciate it.
Heheh.
I think it is not relevant that we will comprise* different atoms. Our forms, our essences are the same. Our natures are the same. Our mind is the same mind. A thing may change, and still be the same thing.
*look up "comprise." one almost always says "it comprises them" but never "it is...
@shoeless: Yes - the "extreme negative care" is exactly what makes it the opposite. What is the opposite of a white ball? It is not no ball at all. It is a black ball. That's not a very great example, but it shows the basic idea.
I'd love to be a shoulder to cry on. Sometimes I accidentally push people away instead, by staying rational when they want me to be empathetic. I don't know how to do both.
Rofl, I played Farmville until I wrote my own clickbot for it (script kiddies FTL, write your own guys). I played just until I made the clickbot relatively decent, then abandoned the entire business. True to type.
Here it is. The bit where I try to write neater looks really unremarkable. Oh well.

After I wrote that, I decided that I should really get a sample where I didn't expect to show to anyone. These are notes I scrawled down before an oral test a month ago. It was...
You make some excellent points. Especially that last one - I was kind of hoping you wouldn't bring it up because I don't think I have an answer for it. In practice, I usually assume the author has an intended interpretation, unless they have told the public that they have none. For most books...
For me, the social interaction is a dream. I am deluged with information from them to me, yet I am able to control precisely how much I wish to respond. I can have meaningful conversations with time to consider before every reply.
I love being an INTP. I know a few people who understand this and me. I just which the concept of the INTP as a natural personality was understood or at least recognized by society in general.
I crave the ability to say, by way of explanation (or even as a prefix to some conversations), "Oh...
i actually know nothing about any of this.
it would just be out of character for ludwig boltzmann to not be able to school you all in thermodynamics
even upside-down boltzmann
:icon_tinykitball:
Yeah, I agree.
I think it's got plenty of meaning - that's what definitions do. I... question the relevance of "What it means to be an American" in the sense that you use it. I think that's an imprecise way to express your feeling that "you respect someone less if they [do not measure up to my...
Uh, right. Good call SEPKA. Internal energy is considered from a center-of-mass frame. Thus, the translational or rotational kinetic energy of the system as a whole is excluded.
That’s exactly how I do it. I have pushed away one or two friends because of this, but I just can’t bring myself to agree with them – I feel like I’d ultimately be doing them a disservice. Friggin’ emotions.
cryptonia: Your first-law equation is correct, but it's very limited. It assumes the system is subject to nothing at all except pressure forces and heat transfer. Only in those circumstances (ignore chemical energy, nuclear energy, gravitational potentials, electrical potentials, &c.) can it be...
You people are hilarious. :coverlaugh:
Zero: From your profile, you say “INTP (CPP- The Paid Test and it's more accurate).” What did you mean by that?
In case you're wondering, any time I find a girl on the internets I read through any biographical info they've put up. It’s like stalking, but...
Well, I do guide my conceit (and the whole business is very much a conceit) about particular definitions being authoritative by common sense and public consensus.
Using the most appropriate definition (of the several listed) for the context, OED says (paraphrased) that an American is one who...
This is vaguely related to an idea I have, which is an INTP line of textbooks. A highly fanciful idea, but I find it difficult to learn from textbooks which are written for irrational types.
Well, you’re talking about understanding, and for that I follow a similar process. Wikipedia is huge in importance for me in understanding things.
But I’m talking about that primal urge for precision you get when a homework question says “What is entropy?” or something. Or you are asked to...
I have always been very concerned with the problem of precise and concise definitions. I was extremely gratified to learn that a fair proportion of the rest of the population does too.
I guess I differ from the traditional INTP, which apparently is uninterested in authority. I on the other hand...
This is really interesting. It seems there should be a simple explanation for the prevalence of Benford's law, but apparently there isn't. A complex one, yes, but that's not what i would expect.
Heat is not energy transfer. Textbooks are wrong when they tell you this. Energy transfer is a process, not a physical quantity. What SEPKA says is also incorrect when you consider that work is also a change in internal energy, per the first law of thermodynamics. Also, this change in energy...
The definition of heat is usually vague as hell, but it's not the same as kinetic energy, nor is it was Agent Intellect said. What he called heat, "the sum of all the energy," is best termed the internal energy, symbolized by U.
The first law of thermodynamics: dU = δQ − δW
Changes in internal...
You can be in the process of considering two contrary opinions, or holding an opinion that can be considered moderate compared to two contrary extremes. But it's semantically impossible to actually hold two contrary opinions.
Interesting ideas, but I won't depend on them without better, more controlled evidence verifying them.
You say you disagree with the MBTI - but what then do you use to define the types and functions?
True to type, I have been bothered by my inability to find concise, well-constructed...
That seems to be the case. According to psychological studies of adopted children, personality is highly natural. There's sources, I don't want to bother about finding them. Wikipedia'll mention them I expect.
I had thought INTPs were generally uninterested in the application of their ideas. I know I'm not; I do enjoy pure mathematics a good deal, even if it doesn't come as naturally to me as some other fields of inquiry. It does come a little naturally to me, though.
Re: I have diffaculty starting conversations or keeping them going
Yeah, I would be fine socially if I could just reliably maintain conversation. If I knew I could do that, I wouldn't have any trouble starting them. Though, compared to some other folks on this forum, I might be thought socially...
I hope this will not need to happen anymore once I start university, and can take classes from professors who at least know as much as the textbook. Dare I hope, more than I? I sound like an arrogant ass, but I've got a right to gripe. High school science classes are really frustrating for me...
I did this often in science class when I was younger, and became known as a huge smartass, but these days (senior year high school) I always make my objection known in the form of a question, and I pretend I'm a moron who only knows this because the correct answer happens to be in the textbook...
