Is there a thing with high Fi and samurai anime? The alternative would apparently be other category of "slice of life" style, more modern, and then sci-fi futuristic and cyberpunk. It seems Fi likes feudal era Japan and samurai ideals, and the anime. I haven't seen the Ruroni Kenshin movie yet but I liked the manga. I didn't so much make a thing of it. Maybe I'm not that much into anime anymore but there are usually better ones to find, although there are good ones INTJ or other Fi could recommend me that I can watch.

I don't know, but it seems like a reflection of Japanese ideas of honor symbolized on samurais. It's their history and part of their culture after all, so it kind of makes sense. I see that a lot in US movies about soldiers or John Wayne type characters that exemplify some kind of culturally ideal or revered person. It's kind of weird I guess. But maybe it's just characters that fight for something in general bring out Fi in some form, even if they are antiheroes or villains. Like it's kind of implied that if you care about some cause ---> Fi. But then people will start saying Fi is values and I think that's a gross oversimplification, even if essentially true. So I don't know.

OP maybe you should go for josei and seinen titles instead of shounen. As we grow older, shounen anime and manga tends to look more immature.

It's much easier to paint a rosy picture of the past than of the future, being a samurai is a great power fantasy, as is being a gunslinging cowboy, and it's far easier to see oneself being these things as opposed to being a starship captain.

Pretty much. There’s the idea of having “strong personal ideals” for self preservation. It also suggests their ancient ancestor memory dates back all the way to the past and all the days back then. So they’re really “hella strong”, or really powerful.

Since it happened first, it’s more natural and right. Space anime or anything is too “out there”. It’s futuristic, so to them, it means if you like it, you must not like feudal era Japan stuff or history/the past in general, and you don’t need math or to be a genius to appreciate it, but they think you lost if you do like it. Samurai are trained to kill on sight. So if you died back then they think you run to sci-fi style anime for escapism.

There’s no real point trying to bicker, or basically nit pick it to death like an “Ni” individual scraping out as much idealism as possible because they can “see what’s missing”. Otherwise, it is what it is. It basically makes no sense (colloquially, it makes perfect sense to me, but is basically stupid). I was into it before. All that samurai shit is boring, there’s no real point not liking Gundam or other sci-fi space anime. It just usually isn’t as Fi/Se, which anime is loaded with, appealing to preteens and those under 20.
