So I am unsure if this is the thread to post in this sub forum or not, but here it goes.

I was recently drinking, like four hours ago, fairly intoxicated, and am now mellowing out close to sleep.

I was at a friends house where I was just sitting with four other guys, watching two of the four play madden 11. I did no watching of it, I was mostly reading scientific articles on my phone since I was extremely bored. No conversation was really sprung up, the short hoorah from the players arose and I'd laugh or toss out a two cent comment.

Since I was on my phone so much, I downloaded an app that would fake call me. I made it happen, picked up the phone and that was my exit.

Side note, I find this hilarious.

I swiftly left the house and returned to my apartment. Of the four people I was with, two of them were my roommates. One of them returned home about three minutes or less after I did. Strange. I was making pizza rolls and had no excuse and simply said to him that I had better things to do that to watch a game of Madden 11.

Anything "wrong" with what I did?

Also, I have to meet with an executive of a multi-billion $ company tomorrow at noon for lunch. I simply felt like my night out was being wasted, so I left.

If there needs to be any other information provided, please ask the questions and I will answer them to the best of my ability. Thanks.

I don't know why you wouldn't just say you wanted to go home because you had an important meeting the next day you wanted to be ready for.

They tend not to understand. I'm a "nerd." I'm assuming they thought I left in order to "get it in."

I was also around a other who definitely wouldn't understand. The life of an INTJ around frat fucks. Not trying to generalize... but about 99% of them suck.

Shit, I wouldn't do all that shit. I would have just said "I have to leave." They would be like "Oh, ok. Well see you later man." But WTF that's my life and how it works for me. Your life works different than mine so you proly did the right thing.

I have done this type of thing before. I kind of saw it as a way to engineer self importance into the situation. Appeasing my ego and giving me a sense of control in an awkward situation.

In the specific example, I would most certainly be a backseat coordinator and be heckling play calls and poor execution from the sideline. But Madden 11?!?! Huh, was it on a PS2? That wasn't even a good Madden year, I mean 98, 04, 09, 25 those were the game changers. I would get new friends based upon Madden preferences.

I need new friends. And agreed, 09 and 25 were my favorites out the "recent" releases. My drunken ego got in the way, I don't generally act like that but things change after a pint of liquor.

I was also called a nerd because I keep up with what's going on in the world. I think that's just something grown-ups do and seniors in college don't want to be grown yet, apparently. I was reading some article about chemistry, I don't remember any specifics. Another kid there was like why aren't you guys talking. Well between the three of us who aren't playing, two of us live together and hardly have anything extra to talk about outside of the apartment, the third kid was quite drunk and doesn't speak much when he's sober. Damn extroverts ;)

Sounds like my college experience.

I wish I'd been more comfortable with myself and not tried to fit in with people I had nothing in common with. Hence why I give you advice I wish I would have just followed myself.

Understood. Thank you. I'll be sure to start making that change.

I was fairly irresponsible drinking as much as I did knowing I had this meeting. Luckily the meeting went extremely well and my team and our executive sponsor are all really cool.

Being the team lead is an interesting change, though I like it.
