I remember that as a child sometimes I experienced something really weird. I would sit around, not doing anything too important, and suddenly things would either slow down or speed up around me. Kind of like when you fast forward in a movie. I used to think that this was just my imagination, but not long ago I asked a friend of mine who is also Intp about it, and she said it happened to her too. Did anyone else experience this?

No. But my oldest memory (I think) I'm in my gramma's house playing beneath a tree and I'm seeing from a top vision (kind of out of my body), and I (top vision) see "me" as a shaved head older boy with a black cape. And then I found a blue propeller toy (wacky whirler) on the grass.

It's a weird consciousness beginning...

No. But I tend to mix memories from my dreams with memories from real life, probably because I've been writing down all my dreams for about 3 years now, so I can remember pretty much ever fucking detail.

I do that sometimes too! I mean the mixing up thing - I tried to write down my dreams a couple of times but I could never really get into it.

Sometimes I would tell my family some of these "memories" and they would be confused about them, because they never happened.

Also... wanna share your favorite dream? (for me it was one in which I was flying and having problems to learn how to land - I had bruises all over my body, but I didn't care, because is was freaking awesome! I only had dreams in which I could fly two times before... well, as far as I can remember)

Exactly what happened to me the only time i smoked dope ! That, hearing other people's whispers and thoughts, and also time distortion (reliving the same situations several times). Hence i never smoked dope ever again !

Hayyel, this happened to me once during a practice rally (Tennis). Suddenly, I felt like I had all the time in the world to plan my shots and micromanage my strokes. For a few minutes, I became like a god on the court. Then I started feeling light-headed and tingly, and decided to bench myself for a little while.

It has never happened again.

Yeah, something like that always came with it, but only after I told myself that this is not normal, and I tried to shake it off.

It might have been a bit frightening but now I kind of wish it would happen again so I could analyse it better.

EN: You’re saying that by monitoring someone’s brain with an EEG, researchers have been able to isolate a certain frequency of activity that only correlates with conscious experiences?

SH: There has to be a critical amount of it, but yes. And it can occur in different parts of the brain, kind of moving around. For example, if somebody smells a rose, they have this gamma synchrony in the olfactory cortex, the part of the brain dealing with smell. If you’re having visual consciousness, you’re going to have gamma synchrony in visual cortex, and in frontal cortex. For sexual pleasure, there is gamma synchrony in a part of the brain called nucleus accumbens, and so on. Gamma synchrony goes away with general anesthesia while other brain neuronal activities continue.

So Roger and I proposed that gamma synchrony correlates with OR quantum-state self-collapses happening roughly forty times per second among coherent, organized networks of the brain’s microtubules. Using E=h/t, we set time t as twenty-five milliseconds, the time duration for forty events per second, and calculated E in terms of superpositioned microtubule subunits. We came up with roughly nanograms of superpositioned tubulins, occupying roughly one hundred thousand neurons worth of microtubules, a number which matched other estimates for consciousness coming from conventional approaches.

Now, I should note that the frequency of conscious events can vary. In heightened or altered states, we seem to be having more conscious moments per second, which would mean that our perception of the outside world would be slower. For example, in a car accident when the car is spinning, people often report that time seems to slow down and the outside world appears to be moving half as fast as it usually does. This could be because their rate of gamma synchrony is changing from around forty hertz to eighty hertz. And similarly, someone once asked the great basketball player Michael Jordan in his prime how he was able to outperform the other team so well. He said when he’s playing well, it’s like the other team is in slow motion. So maybe Michael Jordan was experiencing sixty, seventy, or eighty conscious moments per second and the opponents were only experiencing something like forty.

We also see it in meditation. Buddhist texts describe flickering in pure awareness which have actually been counted—something like six and a half million in a day, which comes out to be in the gamma synchrony range. A few years ago, the Dalai Lama sent some monks to a lab in Wisconsin. They found that while meditating, the monks had the highest gamma synchrony ever recorded. They were actually operating at about eighty to one-hundred hertz, with control subjects at forty. And even at baseline, before they would meditate, the monks showed an unusually high rate of gamma synchrony.
Years of meditating had changed their brains so that they were just normally in this higher-frequency gamma range. That suggests they’re having a richer and more intense conscious experience more frequently than the average person. You could perhaps also say they were having higher energy, frequency and intensity OR conscious moments, or quanta. They go deeper into the quantum world.

Wow, this makes me want to start meditating again. I guess I did know that those monks had something special going on, but this just proves it. Also, now I understand why kids are the way they are (when I was taking a Silva class they said that they are working in the alpha level constantly and as they age they come out of it).

I guess this whole "slowing down time" business comes with it then.

That is the effect athletes call being "in the zone". Most of them go with it as long as it lasts as their performance efficiency increases dramatically. They describe time as slowing down and things look bigger. Hockey goalies have said a small puck coming at them at 90-100 mph looks like a frisbee tossed in a park when they are "in the zone". Basketball players have described how it seems everyone else around them is moving slower and the basket is a bigger (thus easier to hit) target.

The effect doesn't last and it seems no one has been able to get themselves in that state through any deliberate means. If any of them ever did figure out how to do it they'd be the most famous athlete ever.

Edit: This study gets into it in depth:

Dreams where you are able to fly are great, specially when you can clearly see what is below you and you can control where you go. I don't have a favorite dream, I have favorite kinds of dreams.

I like dreams that are "continued" from others. For instance, a few weeks ago I dreamed I was at the beach with my family, and then the tide started to rise until I was taken away by the sea - I often dream of that. Yesterday I dreamed I was swimming on that same ocean and then ended up on a tropical island with hostile natives :kodama1: There was no way of telling it was the same ocean, but I just knew it was, and I knew where I came from, although it wasn't actually the same dream.

Lucid dreams are pretty nice too, but I stop writing down my dreams whenever I get them otherwise I get them too often. I like it because I can remember stuff from real life, like what day of the week it is, or if it was raining or not when I went to sleep. I remember that in my first lucid dream I tried to convince people around me that that world wasn't real, lmao. I often try to take photos on my dreams too. I know it's pointless, but I always try it and I always check my camera when I wake up.

I like dream where there's a lot of interactions with other people. It's interesting when you're dreaming, because you're always doing something, not just seeing landscapes, walking around rooms or whatever, it's like you're just living your life. It's interesting to analyse it afterwards too, like woah, that was all my brain, hah. And I like sex dreams, of course.

I once jumped off the swing at the apex, and all around me was a tunnel of lights. When I was on the ground, everyone was almost inside, whereas it didn't seem there was enough time for them to get that far before I jumped.

I don't remember ever having a lucid dream, instead sometimes I find a common theme in them. Meaning either sex-relationship dreams or end of the world dreams. Hell, once I had a dream where I was pregnant and the world was ending...

Yeti... I did not understand that, it might be because I just woke up. What do you mean inside? Inside the light? Inside a house? And was this a memory or a dream?

A memory. I was inside a tunnel of light. Everyone else ran into the school. It was after the bell rang during recess.

So to you it seemed like everyone else was on fast forward, or you just didn't notice them for a minute and deducted that the time to get from one point to another wasn't enough?

Maybe you were just in a trance of sorts? But I don't know about the light, I never experienced that.

I'm pretty sure I went through a time warp.
