How old are you?

I'm a seventies' child.....

What's your gender?

Female, per official definition.

No......I wish I could keep a cat...:(..... (used to have one back home), but they are considered a pest here, and kill too much native wildlife. Chinchillas! They're majestic creatures, it's almost as if they've all somehow been made exempt from compliance with the law of gravity/reality. Rumor has it they'll be extinct soon...opting for such comfortable fur was not a very well thought-through decision, was it Chinchilla President!? F*ck you! Your progeny's blood is on your hands!

I'll be sad (just kidding I hope they all die, whatever, in so many words, I've no vested interest in their continued survival as a species) to see them go.

I know it may sound rash, but this Chinchilla - while it's certainly adorable, this is clear - seems like a bit of a persnickety assh*le. Also, its hands! What!? They're like human hands, only much smaller (I feel like it might be capable of swinging a baseball bat or playing piano), surprisingly dexterous for such a dirty, soon-to-be-extinct rodent trash heap of an animal.

We seem to have aquired this habit of derailing threads...oh what the heck...

Ok....demonstration of what said chinchilla would do to your head if he got his sticky little human-like hands on you:

Chinchilla-power! rawr!

What is your name?

Pete(r)

Where are you from?

Broken Hill, NSW, Australia ... currently living in south west Western Australia

How old are you?

45 (in a few days)

What's your gender?

Male

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?

Various tests over a period of ~15 years & LOTS of reading.

How did you find out about this forum?

Link from http://typelogic.com/intp.html

Do you have a partner/lover?

Yep. Married to an INFJ for 23 years

Do you have any kids?

Yes, 4 (2 of each)

Do you have any pets?

Yes, 4: 2 dogs & 2 cats (1 of each, of each)

Which hobbies absorb you the most?

Computers!, graphics, web design, photography (sometimes), Forza 3 (xbox), Reading, etc.

How do you generate an income?

Run my own computer services business

Hardest thing about being INTP?

Being 'understood' at a personal level. People I know generally appreciate my insights or input (when they ask for it) but I always feel like I'm speaking a different language or something the rest of the time... I have very few close 'real world' friends but plenty of acquaintances.... particularly when they want their computer fixed. :(

What is your name?

My name is Dillon.

Where are you from?

I am from A small town in Southern Manitoba, Canada (too small to say here anyway).

How old are you?

I am 19.

What's your gender?

Male

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?

I was introduced to MBTI through an online test I took in my search for direction in life (more specifically direction in career choices). It originally gave a result of INFP, but the definition only partially fit. After some reading I came to the conclusion that I am a INTP.

How did you find out about this forum?

Google haha.

Do you have a partner/lover?

Not at the moment but I wouldn't mind one.

Do you have any kids?

I certainly hope not.

Do you have any pets?

The only one that remains is sleeping next to me right now. A cat named Sassy that certainly lives up to the name.

I have spent quite a bit of time mulling over everyones thoughts here and I was pleasantly surprised to have found people that I just get for once, and that appreciate following a thought tangent down its course.

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?

My sister was interested in personality typing. It started with the enneagram, but I found it too difficult to type myself using that. We then moved on to mbti and now I'm an INTx.

How did you find out about this forum?

I googlefied INTP forum.

Do you have a partner/lover?

Yes, INFP

Do you have any kids?

No

Do you have any pets?

Yes! Two cats, ginger toms. They're brothers but have very different personalities. As a joke me and my sister typed them as INTJ for the younger and ENFP for the older.

Nope... no compatible person is found... there is enough time.

Where are you from?
USA.

How old are you?
Let's just say I've just started obsolescence.
What's your gender?
Male

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?
Took an Myers-Brigg test online. Kept scoring INTJ, but the INTP description fitted me much better. In the end- I've settled for being an INTP.:elephant:
How did you find out about this forum?

Google.

Do you have a partner/lover?
Don't ask.

Do you have any kids?
Seriously?

Do you have any pets?
No, but I consider having one.

What is the most difficult part of being an INTP?
There are so many thoughts entering my head that mental filters wear off so quickly. Even more of the fact that as an INTP, the conversations that I hear everyday are so dull. Thank God I have the ability to make people laugh. There's nothing like the challenge of making people laugh.

Well...I just took a bunch of online personality tests that all said I was. Certainly wasn't surprised when the descriptions made a point of noting that mine was a rarer type.
How did you find out about this forum?
One of those sites directed me here
Do you have a partner/lover?
Barely have any spare time between work and college, and even then I have a lot of trouble relating to the general populace. I've done okay for myself in the past though.
Do you have any kids?
Nope.
Do you have any pets?
Two dogs and two cats (all girls)
Which hobbies absorb you the most?
Really anything competitive that I think I can win. Though I spend most of my time just thinking about everything and nothing.
How do you generate an income?
Cashiering at a grocery store. In college in hopes of becoming a physical therapist.
What is the most difficult part of being an INTP?
I only read the answers from the 1st page that were posted like two years ago, but that smilefornow person got it perfectly. I'm trapped in a vicious cycle where because I have so few friends I don't have anything to talk about to help me make any new ones. I'm typically great at first impressions, but then have nowhere to go from there. Especially frustrating on days when I wake up ready to make a change, only to be shut down again.

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?

I was taking online personality tests in a desperate attempt to see what kind of career might suit me

How did you find out about this forum?

I was searching for more information about INTP personalities on google, and this forum popped up. I think I spent a good couple hours reading through a bunch of threads the first time I saw it.

Do you have a partner/lover?

Nope

Do you have any kids?

Not for at least another 12 years, lol, yikes

Do you have any pets?

Yep I have two cats

What is the most difficult part of being an INTP?

A lot of the time I feel very stuck in my own head an unable to come out and face the real world. It's been kind of hard making friends for me, as I feel like it takes a very specific type of person for me to click with. I also am a total aimless slacker, which kind of sucks since I come from a family of successful and ambitious people who expect me to be the same way.

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?
Taking tests and looking up descriptions. The INTP descriptions I've read really speak to me.
How did you find out about this forum?
Google, just like everyone else ;p.
Do you have a partner/lover?
Yes. We've been dating for only about two months. I frequently try to type him. I really think he's an ENFP. He's definitely extroverted, and he's the touchy-feely type. But he does respect that I don't like to be cuddled all the time ;p.
Do you have any kids?
No, and I personally don't plan on having any.
Do you have any pets?
Nope.
Which hobbies absorb you the most?
Writing, reading, consuming and analyzing news, video games, watching anime.
How do you generate an income?
I currently work at a survey research place. I don't generate a lot of income, but it's something. I just graduated college with a degree in journalism and political science, so I hope to be a reporter once I find an appropriate job.
What is the most difficult part of being an INTP?
Introversion and that feelings are "all or nothing." I'm usually relaxed, but if someone crosses the line with me, I tend to show no mercy ;p.

What is your name?

Emily!

Where are you from?

Well, if you wanna get technical...

How old are you?

Chronologically speaking, 19ish. I feel older than that most of the time, though.

What's your gender?

Female

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?

Years of taking the tests. Finally put some real research into it when we used it as a training exercise for work.

How did you find out about this forum?

Teh interwebz.

Do you have a partner/lover?

No, but then I'm not really looking for one. I'm perfectly happy being single.

Do you have any kids?

Thank the gods, no. I don't want any either.

Do you have any pets?

Yessum. A cat, a bunny, and a leopard gecko.

Which hobbies absorb you the most?

Hmm.. Wasting time, learning, staring off into space/daydreaming, listening to music, thinking, reading, playing.
Unfortunately I spend far too much time on this and facebook.

How do you generate an income?

I would tell you, but then I'd have to kill you.

What is the most difficult part of being an INTP?

I actually don't mind being an INTP. I used to worry about people not understanding me, but now I realize that the people worth being with stick around even when they don't completely understand me. I know that there will always be people out there who share my interests, I just have to look a little harder than most.

What is your name?

Bit Rogue

Where are you from?

Originally South Africa, now staying in UK, but technically in just about every hotel in Europe.

How old are you?

37

What's your gender?

Male

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?

On questioning some eccentric abnormalities I identified in myself, led me to question and investigate interpersonal interaction patterns and personality matching, which in turn led me to discover MBTI. And thus an INTP.

How did you find out about this forum?

Google is your friend

Do you have a partner/lover?

No

Do you have any kids?

No

Do you have any pets?

No, but I like cats.

What hobbies absorb you the most?
Reading (sci fi, I have tons of books), writing, photography, programming, Linux, Ham radio, travel and outdoor 4x4 getaways(the lonelier the better), computer gaming, astronomy, home theatre and movies (sci fi, kung fu and mindless action movies :-) ), cooking
(I'd add flying and piano, but Im a bit guilty for not keeping them up as much as I should)

How do you generate an income?
I am an IT consultant working for a major software (now recently also hardware) company. I get sent all over Europe to work on projects to deliver and troubleshoot software implementations for clients. Sometimes I might even get paid for it.

What is the most difficult part of being an INTP?
If I have to be objective about this, there are a couple of things which come to mind.
1)I really wish I had more luck with girls out there and having a partner. I'm not afraid of loneliness but there are times when I could really do with having some good company to share experiences with or have awesome discussions about my way out ideas and theories.
All the girls I meet think I'm weird and don't know how (don't want) to talk to me. Which is fine cos I usually think they're awkward and not very fun or interesting to be around in any case.
2) My work usually puts me in positions where I need to be more outgoing and I find myself getting acute Social Anxiety Disorder in a few of these situations. But I push it down and get on with what I need to do .
3) People complain that I analyze things too much, I am the destroyer of peoples happy theories, my train of thought is too fast and my ideas are too far fetched. While this is not directly an issue for me, it does make for some awkward or embarrassing comments at the few socials I actually attend.
4) I'm often called anti social, but thats just me trying not to make a fool of myself at social gatherings because conversation is not something Im good at, especially mundane stuff, and the fact that I don't seem to identify very well with >95% of the worlds population.

What is the most difficult part of being an INTP?

some say INTP, some say Aspergers, some say obsessive-compulsive
i say theyre all jealous
i say that they have such dependency on externalities that they have taken the stage by force and to serve their own ends are denigrating us
we who do not really get it - do not get why people would want to coalesce
we dont defend ourselves or our enviable state of normalcy
why would we - it's not our way
they, the noisy ones, set themselves, the dependent ones, as the 'normal', poor inadequate beings
the noisy ones think that they rule while we persist

Dying in childbirth is actually very unlikely unless you give birth in a third world hospital.
In fiction it's just a convenient way to produce orphans without raising further questions, that's why it is so popular.

I think what's more important is to reconcile your fear of death. Why fear it? Why fear anything? Things happen.
