Wow, Melkor, you are just a shimmering ray of sunshine and such a welcoming ambassador to this forum. Ok, take some notes here.....

Boradicus - you da man. You came to this forum sharing your creative journey to becoming an ENTP. You were heavily analyzed and the debate got pretty interesting with great analysis from BigApplePi, Adymus and others. I was watching to see how you would take the comments. Although there were some pretty gnarley curveballs thrown at you, you took most of the comments as spirited debate. I don't recall anyone throwing out such heartfelt, words of encouragement as:

Maybe you should all shut up and stop making suggesstions when it's clear you don't know two fecks about this forum having been here for such a limited time.

Also: *Stabs*

I mean, I get all warm and tingly just reading that again. As INTPs, we analyze everything and love nothing more than throwing ideas out, analyzing and re-analyzing those ideas and others. Hate to break it to you Melkor, but the comments I posted that apparently offended you so bad, were just a couple random ideas thrown in the mix for the "Help us with a forum logo" thread. Are you sensitive to the sheep? (Just asking...)

In response to the wonderful comments made below:
Ahem.

I would sooner work with the devil than that creature, and in fact, have done so several times.

Sweet, I don't think I've ever been called a "creature" before. That's awesome, especially when coupled with the comment of being a better option than the devil. I'll take that as a compliment...

Personally I find Robbaz's suggestion to be dreadful.

Dreadful is a great word. But if I'm a better partner than the devil, I would suggest, "atrocious", "vicous", "diabolic", "nefarious", or how about just "evil".

One because a hamburger eating sheep is an absolutely dreadful image, which would look awful as this forum's symbol, and two because he immediately assumes that INTP's are the only 'sheep' that flee the flock.

Now now, no assumptions. I was merely trying to use some creative imagery as a starting point. Symbolism and deeper meaning would make the forum logo a little more interesting. Although we aren't the only one's flee the flock, it is integral to our personality. We are somewhat of the black sheep- interesting, unique, not like all the other sheep doing the standard operating procedures of crowding around each other, doing/eating/talking about the same things, etc. The hamburger is indeed dreadful, but is completely random, somewhat odd, somewhat inspiring (hamburger vs. grass - comeon now), and somewhat light-hearted. We are deep, but we have a light-hearted side to us as well. If you don't have that side, that sucks. It makes life more bearable. Sitting down drinking something cold offers the imagery of enjoying life a little, even if it is considered strange or different by the other sheeple. It was a starting point to take it in a different direction and open it up to ideas like BigApplePi had here......
I find Robbaz's suggestion as creative as his sincerity. What about replacing the sheep with robots, the black sheep with flaming purple, the hamburger with a plate of nuts and bolts? That could work.

As usual, that led me to another thought of including the Thinker, which would be more interesting as a metaphor, and I like the plate of nuts and bolts - GREAT IDEA. I have no problem with critiquing or even having ideas shot down, but I suggest you keep your mind open or you'll be just like a lot of the undeveloped, close-minded, opinionated SJ type fools out there with no vision....

This is a biased and pitiful excuse for an analysis of Intp.

We INTP's are deeper than that, and I hope the *real* INTP'S amongst us would agree that such a blatant and skin-deep metaphor would tarnish out reputation and forum.

Leave if you like dear Robbaz, it would only illustrate how useless you truly are.

My dear, sweet Melkor. If you would care to enlighten the rest of the forum on what the proper analysis of an INTP is, I challenge you to start up a thread to discuss this further. You wanna throw down further, let's do it outside of this thread - for this thread is about welcoming ideas from seasoned and new members about the logo.

If you care to take this challenge, please start up a thread and expound on your brilliant, deeper outlook of the "real" INTP". Cause, we certainly don't wan't us ignorant, "useless" intps to ruin the reputation of the forum. Hope you're up to the challenge, because I want to learn from you. (Insert sarcasm here). Bring it.

As for this thread, keep the ideas coming and newbies, chime in with whatever comes to your mind.....

Just a couple idle passing comments --

Odd you would get "warm & tingly.":o I shuddered in horror.

As usual, that led me to another thought of including the Thinker, which would be more interesting as a metaphor, and I like the plate of nuts and bolts I'm embarassed to say that although nuts & bolts is vivid imagery, I associate it more with an "S" person than an "N" person that INTPs supposedly are. The image must have been an offshoot of the robot I mentioned.

My dear, sweet Melkor. If you would care to enlighten the rest of the forum on what the proper analysis of an INTP is, I challenge you to start up .....If you care to take this challenge, please start up .....If the gauntlet is going to be laid down, you two will be needing aids .... I forget whose duty it is to pick the choice of weaponry.

Robbaz - it's easier just to stab Melkor back or attempt to hug him if you want to be truly evil.
Lighten up man!

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.

Where did all this tedious INTP posturing come from anyway??? I thought that was INTP Central's culture, not ours?

Yawn.

Melkor dude, if you want to talk to somebody with the Real Power - talk to Jesus ;)

I just whipped up one in GIMP quick.
Admittedly, I didn't read the whole thread so if ones been chosen already or somethin, oh well...

Edit: After seeing it on here it's a bit too vibrant =/

Vibrant brings attention. What about a teeny "Thinker" on the extreme left and and corresponding teeny Mandelbrot on the right to symbolize the INTP's thinking abilities? How would that look?

Anybody know how to shrink these things?

Wait, so what is the overall "vibe" one seeks to give off with the banner?

Is a background image even needed?

What about some sort of play on the characters of INTP in general, much could be done inside a large block text, such as architectural schematics for one character, something else for the next.

Some sort of transparent underlay of mathematical theorems, simple ones that can kind of float in the background, but not too visible. Sort of a mystical layer behind the INTP specification.

The different themes all have different widths, some fixed and some floating so a static banner with a specific background would only work on a fixed theme, and not floating.

That doesn't mean one couldn't assign separate banners on the left, the middle, and the right, which would give the impression of a full banner that adjusts with a floating style while also blending into various color palettes.

Ideally one would want a transparent logo with just a simple set of images with transparency behind so they will fit with nearly any theme, that or do a different banner for each theme.

That brings me to another topic, are the themes on the forum going to stay this way or is there any plan of further implementation of more styles?

I have some experience with photoshop and imageready, flash as well.

It wouldn't be too hard to create something, animated wouldn't be too bad either, it would be kind of neat to see animated theorems floating around in the background, but the spatial limit of the banner would make it hard to implement, perhaps a fade-in from the horizontal sides.

Here's a couple of animations done in the past, very simple, but effective. Maybe they will spur some new ideas.

Banner from an IT site that I played around with. Note that I am no longer associated with Arx Fidelis.

Just a very humble attempt.

I quickly just filtered out the background, I'll play around with some more suggestions today.
Anyone have a cool looking recursive (because recursion is awesome) algorithm that would look nice in the background?

Depends on vibe desired.

Should "INTP" stand out -- so as to impress visitors what this Forum is all about?

Like E=MC˛ ? One issue to be careful of is the presentation can look too busy. Busy means distraction from the main vibe.

You mean three banners, where one shifts to see the left and right ones?

Ideally one would want a transparent logo with just a simple set of images with transparency behind so they will fit with nearly any theme, that or do a different banner for each theme.
Simple ---

Why can't we just tint the logo depending on the background colour?

Anyway, perhaps there should be a vote for the existing submissions?
