View Full Version : Consolidation of Forum Sections

Hi,

I feel that currently there is an overwhelming number of subforums and consolidating some of them might be beneficial. It also might allow topics to receive a greater audience and thus more variety of opinions.

For example: psychological, human relationships and scool/work/world affairs could conceivably be merged as one. I'm not exactly clear as to the purpose of many of the forums in the inner sanctum so I won't make a suggestion there, though again it seems to have a large number of sections.

The issue that comes to mind is that perhaps people could be hesitant to post a topic if they feel the section wasn't right, but I really couldn't see that being an issue. Perhaps a sticky at the top of some of the more vaguely named forums to express the purpose of them would ameliorate this?

Well, just an observation, hopefully not a completely ignorant one.

Thanks for reading.

edit: funnily enough, the reason I even bring this up is due to the moving on my thread about music in the lounge down to the music section, which I completely understand. The reason I posted there is I had never even scrolled below the "Within" section and didn't realize all these other things existed, lol... So it could just be that I had assumed that was all and thought it to be sufficient, then when I discovered these other forums I was resistant to the change. Anyway, my suggestion stands, but I thought this was quite humorous.

a lot of those new sections were recently added, so thet will probably stay.

You could always do what I do, and use the "new posts" button at the top of the page, or today's posts in the quick links tab. (Both of which do the same exact thing)

Sorry to find it funny, Prof-Pointless... but the human relationships thread was put into existence just a couple weeks ago... :D Same with the pure-science section...

But, personally, I haven't seen a lot of worry about overlap per se... everyone just rolls with it. :p The bigger concern I note is when someone has a topic that really can't fit anywhere at all. Like, right now - I kinda think we need a history subsection - but haven't remembered to make it an official suggestion.

*Addendum: Unfortunately, the arts & entertainment section just isn't visited very much in a general way. I write it up to a lack of interest, but it could be the fact it's lower on the front page.

And, I guess Nobody beat me to it.

Uhhhh... what? Like... confused you/me-ness?

If that's supposed to be a challenge, I think you'll have to do almost six times better than you have to take it away from me. :p

Don't think of my name as a persons name, just what you would normally think if you heat it, read what I quoted and you will understand

Arright. I have it and reject it on the grounds of capitalization. :p

What? Capitalisation is the Main Tool of the Fantasy Author in making Mundane and Everyday Objects seem more important to the Plot. It ranks above Loquacious and Obfuscating Naming of Artefacts and the Random Replacement of the Letter 'C' with the Letter 'K'.

(Making fun of myself is fun. :D)

ah... it's always a work in progress... the forum that is.

Most calls have been for more categories... then things get a little shuffled here and there... ideas get shelved until the bright light of motivation glares out like the sunrise one morning...

but it's kind of comfy now... in a less than optimal way...

hell... the J's can't find a chair to sit in... that has to be a good thing... right? ;)

Y'know you could always make me an administrator, I'll put those troublemakers in their place. I'd start with some expulsions, lets see, Melkor will have to go, then Cog and Saffy and of course that annoying little twit, loveofreason.

So you would make this forum boring then?

I would recreate this forum in my image, expelling the petty minds of those who cannot understand my majesty, this would be a place of Gods not fools like yourself.

My EGO could fill a galaxy, a universe, spawned by hatred, and anger at the stupidity of mindless cravens who call themselves human. I would be king, I would be GOD and the fools who inhabit this world would worship me. They might openly hate me but inside, deep inside they love me as a dog loves his master.

I'll be a God with an ego the size of a football.
